THE 2020 WORLD PADEL TOUR IS BACK

Professional padel is experiencing unprecedented events. For the first time, the season was affected by a global emergency event, a pandemic caused by the covid-19 virus. The World Padel Tour was one of the first affected, when some tournaments started to be suspended or cancelled.

The Marbella Master was the only event on the 2020 World Padel Tour calendar that could take place. This event took place during the month of March, and that was the last time the players stepped on a center court. A couple of weeks ago, the news was that professional padel was close to coming back, but the date had not been confirmed. Now the rumors have come true. Previously, there had been talk of strict measures being taken for the return of professional padel. One of them is that the first tournaments would have to be held without an audience. That is why the Estrella Damm Open and the Madrid Open City Council will be held behind closed doors, both in the same venue.

Estrella Damm Open

The first of the trials that will lead to the return of the professional padel is the Estrella Damm Open. This will be the second tournament of the season, and the first of its kind (Open). This event is scheduled to take place from 28 June to 5 July. The Madrid Arena will be the venue for the world’s best ones on their return to the courts.

Madrid Open City Council

Only one week after the Estrella Damm Open, the second post-isolation tournament will start, and it will be the Madrid Open City Council. This event will take place from July 12th to 19th at the same venue.
